So, I totally just spent the weekend in Iowa. Grand.
Nah, actually, it was quite fun---'twas for a ballroom competition at ISU. I danced five different dances, and didn't place in any of 'em, but I had a good time, and it was a blast just hanging out and watching everybody dance too. And of course, we went out to eat at two exceedingly awesome restaurants over the course of the weekend (one Indian, one Thai), which were excellent.
The getting there and back was, shall we say, interesting, though. Getting there Friday night, the weather was kind of awful for part of the way, nasty and icy and such. There were SO many vehicles off the road, we didn't even try to count 'em. It was ridiculous. A lot of them were still there as we started home Sunday, which should say something about how many there were to begin with. But we sang along to show tunes most of the way, which was great. Then once we got there, we got ourselves mildly lost trying to find the place where we were staying, and then somebody said something about a brothel, and it all deteriorated into ridiculous fits of laughter from there. I love these people.
On the way home Sunday, we had another, slightly scarier adventure. We were toolin' along down the highway and we decided to stop for a potty break, so we got off the interstate and first thing, we went through an intersection and this lady ran a red light and broadsided us. Startling as hell, but everybody was okay, so the cops came and we got things straightened out there, and meanwhile we called one of the other cars to come back and I switched over to ride with them. The reason for this was that we needed one less person in Dana's car in case the damaged door fell off, as the cop said could happen. Nice thought. But yeah, the car door sustained the only lasting damage; I had a bit of a stiff neck and shoulder today, but nobody had any serious injuries, and the car was still drivable, so we all agreed it could've been much worse. Yay for Dana's car being awesome!
In other news, TETRIS CAME TODAY. And I won't get to play it until Thursday because of all my stupid homework and finals.
